PROPHECY, A LIGHT IN THE DARK WORLD

Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1.

Memory Verse: 2 Peter 1:21.

  1. How were the Holy Scriptures given? 2 Timothy 3:16.
  2. For what purpose were they given? 2 Timothy 3:17.
  3. Are the prophecies of the Bible to be our guide in this day and age? What will they do? Deuteronomy 29:29.

NOTE: A large percentage of the Bible is Prophetic. Many of the ancient prophecies pertain to our time today, just prior to ‘His Second Coming.’ Even our very faith and trust in our Heavenly Father and Christ, His son, is prophetic — the resurrection of the dead; eternal life; even the declaration of the angels at His birth, “on earth peace, good will toward men.” Also -nothing will hurt or destroy. There will be no more suffering, tears or sorrow— no more death or pain. This, our longing and our hope, is all prophetic.

  2. What is in store for all who will prayerfully read these wonderful prophecies? Revelation 1:3.
  3. How were the Old Testament prophecies given? 2 Peter 1:21.
  4. What is said about the interpretation of these prophecies? 2 Peter 1:20.
  5. Did these prophecies have anything to do with the salvation of the prophets? 1 Peter 1:9-10.
  6. Did the Spirit of Christ have anything to do with the prophets? 1 Peter 1:11-13.
  7. How was the Christ the Son of the living God revealed to Peter? 2 Peter 1:16,17.
  8. In what wonderful way was His presence revealed to Peter, James, and John? 2 Peter 1:18; Matthew 17:1-9
  9. How are we to regard these wonderful prophecies in this day and age in which we are living at this present time? 1 Corinthians 10:11; Romans 15:4.
  10. Peter, James, and John, received a pre-view as it were of the second coming of Jesus while they were up on the Holy Mount. But what do we have even now regarding Christ’s second coming? 2 Peter 1:19.
  11. Will the true elect person, called for life eternal, be fruitful or unfruitful in the work of the Lord at this time? 2 Peter 1:8.
