MOSES, BEARER OF THE LAW

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 34:1-8

Memory Verse: Hebrews 11: 24, 25

NOTE: MosesΓÇÖs Life was divided into three parts: (1) -In the court of Egypt; (2) -In the desert as

a tender of JethroΓÇÿs flocks :(3) -In the wilderness with Israel. Each of these three periods

was forty years. The first eighty years of his life were in preparation for 40 years of service.

  1. Discuss the circumstances, which brought Israel into Egypt and placed them in bondage. Genesis 41:54, 57; 42:5, 6; 45: 16-18; Exodus 1:7-14.
  2. How did Moses, a Hebrew, came to be called son of PharaohΓÇÿs daughter? Exodus 1:15-22; 2:1-10

Note: Josephus tells us that PharaohΓÇÖs daughter was Thermuthis, who had no child of her own; that Moses was reared to become PharaohΓÇÖs successor. See Hebrews 11:24-27

  1. What was the turning point of MosesΓÇÖ life, and how did it come about? Exodus 2:11-25
  2. How did Moses spend the second period of his life, and how did it end? Exodus 3 and 4
  3. How did Moses launch his career as the leader of Israel? Exodus 4:29 -31; Exodus 5
  4. How long did Moses lead the children of Israel? Deuteronomy 2:7; 8:2, Numbers 32:13.
  5. Why then, were the Children of Israel so many years in the wilderness when the journey to the Promised Land should have taken them 40 days instead of years? Numbers 14:1-23,33-36
  6. What was the end of this great leaderΓÇÖs life? Deuteronomy 34.

Note: This life is filled with opposites- spirits warring within the inner person. And in this life, (if we choose to do it), we can always find something to murmur or complain about. However, we are created to praise and not to murmur ΓÇô to rejoice in tribulation and to give thanks for all things. Ephesians 5:20; James 1:2-4; Hebrews 12:2. We are gold, (as it were), refined in the fire ΓÇô being perfected. Let us, each one, put our TRUST IN HIM! Proverbs 3:5
