THE SACRED SCRIPTURES
Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 8.
Memory Verse: Psalms 119:105.
1. By what power was the entire Bible given? 2 Timothy 3:16.
2. Who was the first to write the Sacred Scripture? Exodus 24:12.
3. On what type of material was it written? Exodus 31:18; 32:15,16.
NOTE: Writing the Commandments of God upon two tables of stone is significant in two ways: (1) Stone is one of the most durable materials; (2) The Law of God, the words which were written, are to be in effect as long as heaven and earth remain. Matthew 5:18.
4. Who prepared the second tables of stone and who wrote upon them? Exodus 34:1-4; Deuteronomy 10:1-4.
5. What are the Scriptures, through Divine Anointing, able to do? 2 Timothy 3:15-17.
6. For whom did Paul say the Scriptures were written? 1 Corinthians 10:11.
7. What emphasis did Samuel and David put upon the divinely inspired Word of God? 2 Samuel 22:31; Psalms 19:7; 12:6,7; 119:140.
8. What is the efficacy of the Word of God? Deuteronomy 32:1-4; Isaiah 55:10,11.
9. To what does God compare the words of those who do not speak the true Word of God? Jeremiah 7:4, first part; Jeremiah 29:8,9; 2 Timothy 2:16, 17; Ephesians 5:6.
NOTE: God's Word is like a fire (Jeremiah 23:29) while other writings such as church dogmas and creeds are vain and are compared to something which devours or destroys. Therefore, when people attack the inspired Word of the Lord claiming it is incomplete, and go to dictionaries, encyclopaedias, and other books to justify their claims, let us not be ensnared by their claims which are vain; but may we always take the Holy Bible as our creed.
10. How does Jesus emphasize The Word? John 12:48; 14:24.
11. What will The Word do for us if we give heed to it? Ephesians 5:25,26; John 15:3; 17:17.
12. What does Paul say about The Word being lightly esteemed in the last days? 2 Timothy 4:1-4; Titus 1:9-14.
13. Is there any escape for any who fail to give heed to The Word? Hebrews 2:1-3.
